No more boring talks, please

Lately, I have become bored with talks that are too rehearsed or structured.

So, I encourage now my clients and students to let go of structure in the beginning; start with the story they want to tell, and let it grow; no need to hit us over the head with a point and a plan; find its shape and form in due time. Allow for the process. You will see the bigger picture and the details that are needed will come. Trust you know what you know. And, let go of the need to tell us all you know. Take us on a journey. Be a good guide. Show us the sites that take our breath away. Talk to us, not at us. Make it an exchange.

Trusting the process though is difficult. We start wanting to have everything figured out from the onset. We don't allow for exploration and discovery. We get stuck in trying to do it the "right" way - often with the help of one of the latest AI apps; and so, we end up with a fine AND predictable talk; every point lined up in cool duck fashion -- no one offended and no one really shifted either.

What if you allowed yourself to be a little messy? I am not saying NO structure, simply soften the structure. Don't let me/us see your work. Surprise us and you. Your talk will feel less forced, more authentic, and ultimately, moving and memorable.
